Swan Talk

Last Sunday I visited my friend Patrick Gardiner and his wife Monica at their home on the shore of Marsh Lake.  Camera, tripod, and my little collapsible camp chair in hand I quietly moved along the ice at the shore until I was within range of the trumpeter swans in the open water.  With the new Sigma 150-600 mm lens I was able to capture this.

I think images that capture the behaviour of birds and animals have greater impact than just portrait shots.  And, it's fun - at least for me - to anthropomorphize (attribute human characteristics to animals).

So here's an image of two swans having a conversation, part of which goes like this:

"Hey, let's walk over to those other guys.  Okay, but try to keep in step, okay?"
